The birthday celebrations of Rakhi Birla — Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MlA from Mongolpuri and former Social Welfare Minister of Delhi — were marred by gift controversy and alleged brawl on Wednesday.
At the centre of attraction was a brand new Mahindra Scorpio that she reportedly got as a birthday gift. The Scorpio became the talk of the social media. Also, speculations are being made as to who gifted her Rs 13 lakh vehicle.
Denying that Rakhi got the car as a birthday gift, her brother Vikram reportedly said the car is bought by their mother on loan and only the first installment of Rs 3 lakh is paid so far. The AAP MlA had organised the birthday party in her constituency, in which AAP MlA from Kirari, Ritu Raj Jha, was also present.
Also, there have been reports of a scuffle when some protesters raised slogans against Ritu. The protesters claimed that they were attacked by Rakhi's family members when they were holding a peaceful protest outside the party venue.
According to sources, (AAP) is taking the issue of physical violence in the party with some seriousness. Both Rakhi and Ritu were summoned to the party office over the issue.
