Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadami Party (AAP) pulling its socks up in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home-State Gujarat to gain some ground as AAP has set target to enrol one lakh members in the State keeping the upcoming Assembly polls in mind.
AAP initiated major membership drive in the State with the purpose of crossing 1 lakh figure. Besides the party wants to penetrate its presence across the State and aiming to have its organisational structure at the booth level in all 182 Assembly constituencies by the end year 2016.
“We have chalked out a detail plan to club 20 booths to form divisions in every Assembly constituency. Moreover, the party would appoint one observer for each Assembly constituency. The observer would be a person outside the constituency, so that he would be able to monitor the organisational activities neutrally,” said Gopal Rai, Minister of State for Rural Development in Arvind Kejriwal Government in Delhi.
Rai who came to Vadodara further said that though observers for the Assembly constituencies would be appointed from within the state, but AAP would have a separate team of 35 members from Delhi to overlook organisational work being done in Gujarat at assembly seat level.
The Delhi Minister also conducted meetings with AAP functionaries at the cultural capital of Gujarat (Vadodara) at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was addressing a public meeting at Deesa in North Gujarat. Under his supervision, the party has divided the State into seven zones in view of the Assembly polls to be held in the second half of next year.
Talking to media persons on the side lines of AAP’s internal meetings, Rai would organise ‘Gujarat Azadi Andolan’ across the State in order to give freedom from ‘Amit Shah’s gang’. He claimed that a group close to the BJPs national president was working in the State to terrorise people on his behalf.
