In a significant move, the Delhi Government on Tuesday transferred VAT commissioner Sanjiv Khirwal and Excise Commissioner Neeraj Semwal.
The decision was expected as the AAP Government had recently issued an advertisement asking the officials to apply for both the posts. Notably, only two DANICS officials applied for the Excise Commissioner’s post while none applied for VAT Commissioner.
Khirwal —1994 batch IAS officer — has been transferred as Commissioner Food and Supplies replacing Vijay Kumar, a1992 batch officer, who is now the new VAT Commissioner.
District Magistrate of New Delhi, Sanjay Kumar will hold the charge of Excise Commissioner with additional charge of DC New Delhi. Excise Commissioner Neeraj Semwal, 2003 batch officer has also been transferred and shifted as Deputy Commissioner (South East). He has replaced HPS Saran, who was transferred as special secretary land and Building.
