AAP gearing up for a Delhi rerun in Bengaluru?

After their spectacular win in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party seems to have set its next target — IT city Bengaluru. As the talks are doing the rounds within the party, which has decimated both the BJP and the Congress in Delhi elections, they want to add teeth to their support base in Bengaluru.

According to AAP’s Karnataka unit, taking a cue from their resounding victory in the Assembly polls in the Capital, the party now wants to contest the ensuing Bengaluru corporation elections which will be held in April. Bruhut Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) or Bengaluru Corporation is now under the control of the BJP and AAP is very keen to test their water here.

“There are a lot of similarities between Delhi and Bengaluru. It has been rendered as an orphan city by the BJP and the Congress and people need an alternative. AAP is visible in Bengaluru and my party will contest in all the seats,’” AAP’s V Balakrishnan, who contested from Bangalore Central lok Sabha seat in 2014, said. The party had kept a low profile after the 2014 lok Sabha polls when its candidates in all 28 constituencies had lost their deposits.
