A A Rao was working as Additional Secretary in the Rajya Sabha Secretariat on contract basis up to August 31, 2020. On being offered an extension for another year as OSD in the status of Additional Secretary, Rao expressed his inability to accept the offer owing to personal reasons. Accordingly the contract of Rao concluded on August 31, 2020 and he relinquished the charge of office of Additional Secretary in the afternoon of the 31 August, 2020, as per the official statement from Rajya Sabha Secretariat.
