In the small hours of a calm night, Some men in a pool of blood lay.
With mouths gaped wide, as if to say, “Mother, we have achieved eternal peace today!”
Their visages weren’t pale, Their blood was not cold.
Instead they were warm within, And had an expression very bold.
These valiant men are our soldiers Who, to protect their land from all plunderers,
Made the supreme sacrifice, By giving up their lives.
While we made merry and enjoyed To attain victory, they strived.
While we lay snuggled in a cot, In the open battlefield, bravely they fought.
To liv for our nation was their aim, And their lives did not go in vain.
They brought laurels to our country, O, Kargil martyrs, we salute thee!
