At least eight passengers travelling in a Mumbai-Kolkata flight were hurt, three of them seriously when the flight hit turbulence during decent.
“The 3 passengers with major injuries shifted to a local hospital in Kolkata,” a senior official quoted NSI Airport Director as saying. There were 113 passengers on-board the aircraft, sources said.
Soon before the plane landed a severe storm blew over parts of Kolkata sources said adding the turbulence and the violent jerk could have been because of the same storm.
The private airline sources said they were “saddened by this unfortunate experience its customers had and is closely monitoring the health status of those injured…. We are investigating the incident on priority, and will share a further update at the earliest.”
