On his continuation as Minister in Modi Government even after completion of 75 years, the Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Kalraj Mishra on Friday said that the age bar of 75 years was nothing but product of the media’s imagination. Replying to a query raised by reporters on the sidelines of MSME conclave organised in Gujarat’s capital Gandhinagar, the septuagenarian Minister said that they should ask the question to BJP president Amit Shah as he didn’t know anything on age bar. On a lighter note he said that even Shah might not know it. In fact the saffron party leadership has taken a decision that those who were 75 and above should play a role of mentor and vacate positions for younger people. On this line, former Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel resigned recently. The two State Ministers in Madhya Pradesh, who were above the cut-off age, Public Works Department Minister Sartaj Singh, 76, and Home Minister, 86-year-old Babulal Gaur had resigned.
76-year-old Najama Heptulla also resigned from Modi Cabinet and now has been appointed as Manipur Governor. Her resignation too allegedly came on age ground.
