The 7/11 Mumbai train blasts trial has been going on at a tardy pace, despite the Supreme court having vacated the stay on the trial of this case as also the September 8, 2006 Malegaon blasts and the May 2006 Aurangabad arms haul cases, more than five years ago.
The 7/11 trial, it may be recalled, had resumed on May 24, after the apex court vacated its stay on the trial in the three cases. The apex court had in 2008, stayed the trials in all the three cases, after three of the accused, including one Zameer Ahmed latifur Rehman Sheikh, challenged the applicability of section 2 (1) (e) MCOCA on the ground that internal security was a Central matter.
