690 cases filed during Telangana stir withdrawn

Published on:

The Telangana Government has finally lifted the criminal cases against 690 people during the agitation for separate Telangana State. Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy gave nod to the scrapping of the cases against the agitators.

The Home Minister, who is undergoing treatment at a local hospital, asked the officials to bring the file so that the Government can issue the formal order. With this the TRS Government has fulfilled one more election promise by giving a big relief to the Telangana supporters. Most of the people booked in the cases were youth and students and were worried that the cases may come in their way getting employed.

Some more cases of damaging the Central Government and the Railway properties are still pending and efforts were being made to get them withdrawn.

While nearly 4,000 cases in connection with sit-ins, blocking traffic and other violations were booked by the State police during the agitation, 1200 cases were withdrawn by the previous Kiran Kumar Reddy Government. These cases were booked in Hyderabad and nine other districts.
