Claiming that they haven’t received salaries for over three months, six ad-hoc teachers of Delhi University’s Swami Shraddhanand College have refused to submit the internal assessment of students for their respective subjects.

According to Manish Kumar, president of the college’s teachers association, the teachers who have been protesting against the non-payment of their salaries since five weeks have been taking classes and evaluating assignments till date. But they will not be submitting the attendance and assessment reports till the payment of their salaries is received.

Due to this, almost 500 students will have to suffer, said officials. “The college principal had cited shortage of funds as the reason behind non-payment of their salaries. According to the accounts department, the college has received a fund of Rs10 lakh from the Government, but still they haven’t been paid,” informed Kumar.

The teachers have also sought intervention of the vice chancellor and the governing body (GB) chairman of the college, he said, adding, they will continue to protest till their demands are met. College principal Dr SK Kundra was not available for comment.
