Immediately after the successful visit of PM Narendra Modi to Bangladesh, as many as six CID officers from the neighbouring country have come to Gujarat to take training at the Gujarat Forensic Science University (GFSU) situated in the State capital Gandhinagar.
Confirming the development, Director of GFSU MS Dahiya said that senior officials of specialised wing of police from neighbouring country have come to take 15-day long training at the University.
“These officials are having different background and pursuing various branches related to forensic science including chemistry, physics, narco-analysis, crime scene analysis, finger-print documents analysis, explosive, ballistics etc. Our experts will impart training to them as per their domain during the fortnight,” he added.
A senior official in GFSU said that CID is considered as the top-ranked probe and forensic agency in Bangladesh and playing instrumental role to investigate and detect crime. It is also working closely with other agencies to tackle terrorist activities there, he informed.
GFSU consented to impart training following a proposal letter from the Bangladesh Government to train some of the top CID officials. In two different batches, GFSU experts in will train nearly 20 officials from neighbouring countries.
The officials from Bangladesh are happy with the training process and such training sessions will be conducted for neighbouring countries in future too. Earlier also GFSU had trained officers from South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) including earthquake-affected Nepal.
GFSU was the vision of PM Narendra Modi when he was Gujarat CM. The university was established by the Government of Gujarat through an Act passed by the Gujarat legislative Assembly with an objective of fulfilling the acute shortage of forensic experts not only in India but across the globe.
