Kerala heaved a sigh of relief when Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced that 593 persons were diagnosed with Covid-19 on Saturday.
It was a relief for the State which saw nearly 800 persons testing positive for the pandemic for the last two successive days as the numbers came down, though not sharply. Two persons succumbed to Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, said the Chief Minister.
Vijayan said that there were 11,659 active Covid-19 cases in Kerala. The number of persons infected with coronavirus through contact stood at 364. The day also saw 1,053 persons getting hospitalized because of the pandemic. The scenic coastal line of Thiruvananthapuram has been shut down for the next ten days because of community transmission. The Government has declared stringent conditions all over the Thiruvananthapuram coast line, one of the enchanting attractions in the capital city. It has been designated as a No Go area, said the Chief Minister.
Vijayan said community transmission has become a reality in Thiruvananthapuram. He reminded the people that the entire State has been under the grip of Covid-19 for the last six months and this has caused a sense of complacency all over Kerala. “I am repeatedly reminding you about this because of the seriousness of the situation. We have changed the war cry of Breaking The Chain to “Caution As Precious As Life,” said Vijayan.
