Five police personnel were placed under suspension by the Superintendent of Police, Rajouri district on Wednesday in a bizarre incident of theft reported from inside the high security seizure room (Malkhana) of the district court complex.
In addition, a departmental inquiry has also been initiated in this regard.
According to official sources during the intervening night of April 3 and 4 seized contraband substances, drugs/capsules and fake currency were stolen by unidentified personnel from inside the Malkhana of the district court complex, Rajouri.
According to official sources, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri Amritpal Singh has placed under suspension Guard Incharge and other officials for dereliction of duties while a departmental enquiry has also been initiated, which will be conducted by Deputy SP DAR Parupkar Singh.
The investigation is going on and a breakthrough is expected very soon, police said. A case under FIR number 143/2023 under section 457/380 IPC has been registered and investigation has been started.
During the initial phase, police said, special teams have analysed the crime scene with the assistance of FSL team.
