After Congress MP l Rajagopal resorted to pepper spraying in the lok Sabha, four MPs were rushed to Ram Manohar lohia Hospital on Thursday as they complained of choking and eye burns. Many other MPs were left coughing and teary-eyed.
Of the four MPs, three were discharged within an hour while the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP, Narayana Rao, who was also opposing the Telangana Bill, was admitted to the CCU after he complained of palpitation and abnormal blood pressure.
Rao, who had collapsed in the lok Sabha, was resuscitated in the RR room and later shifted to the Coronary Control Unit. “He came to the casualty with palpitation and complained of uneasiness following which he was examined by a team of physicians and cardiologists. His blood pressure and pulse rate was found to be very high. He was resuscitated in the RR room and has now been shifted to coronary care unit (CCU),” said Dr HK Kar, medical superintendent of RMl hospital.
He added that Rao had undergone angiography a week back at a hospital in Hyderabad and was advised bypass surgery. “Now based on the report we are yet to decide whether we should give him stents or do a bypass surgery on him. His condition is being constantly monitored by a team of cardiologists,” Dr Kar said.
Before Rao, doctors of RMl attended to the three MPs, Vinay Kumar Pandey, MP from Uttar Pradesh, Ponnam Prabhakar, Congress MP from Karim-nagar, Andhra Pradesh and Union Minister Balram Naik, Mahabubabad MP.
“The MPs were brought to the hospital casualty. They complained of burning in the eyes, difficulty in breathing and skin irritation. A team of doctors comprising doctors from Opthamology, Orthopediatrics and Dermatology examined them. Medications were given and they were discharged 2.20 pm,” Dr Kar added.
