Suspected militants attacked a police vehicle in south Kashmir’s Qazigund area on Sunday evening injuring four policemen.

Sources said the vehicle was fired upon at Bonigam village when the cops were returning to their police station after visiting a spot to investigate a local dispute.

Four policemen have been wounded in the attack, one of them critically, sources said. The wounded cops were shifted to Srinagar for treatment. They have been identified as constables Manzoor Ahmad, Mohammad Yaqoob, Mohammad Altaf and Manzoor Ahmad.

The entire area was cordoned off after the attack to track down the attackers. Two meticulous attacks have been carried out by Hizbul Mujahideen and lasktar-e-Toiba in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara and Anantnag towns earlier this month. Three Border Security Force personnel and two policemen were killed in the twin attacks.

No militant group claimed responsibility for the Qazigund attack.
