A 34-year-old man was shot dead late on Sunday and his father was seriously injured when their neighbour allegedly opened fire at them at the staff quarters of a Government Hospital following a dispute with them.
The incident took place in lady Hardinge Hospital staff quarters around 10 pm and the deceased has been identified as Kailash.
His father Subhash (54) was seriously injured and is undergoing treatment. According to a senior police official, the father-son duo was not in cordial relations with their neighbour Balkrishna and his son Manoj.
“Tonight, Balkrishna and Manoj along with some others came to Subhash’s house and entered into an arguement. Following this, they opened fire and Kailash died on the spot. Subhash suffered grevious injuries,” the official said.
Balkrishna was arrested while Manoj and others fled the spot. Efforts are on to nab the absconding accused.
