Two broad daylight crime incidents in Bihar on Monday in which one Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police was shot dead and one bomb exploded in Chhapra court leaving three women injured.

SI Suresh Thakur was shot dead by two unknown bike-borne assailants at Gaurakshni area of Barh in Patna district when he was returning to Maranchi police station where he was posted. Thakur, police said, was returning after obtaining a notice for property attachment in a case from Barh court, said Maranchi police station incharge Dinesh Bahadur Singh. Thakur’s service revolver was also found missing, police said. The police association has given an ultimatum to the Government to arrest the culprits in 24 hours.

Thakur who belonged to Begusarai district died on the spot. Barh and its adjoining areas are crime infested and gang war and killing is a common feature. Though the police did not say about the possible reasons behind the murder of the SI, it is suspected that he also became victim of gang rivalry or killed by the party against whom the cop had obtained property attachment order from the court.

Meanwhile, a bomb was exploded in the premises of Chhapra court on Monday morning allegedly triggered by a woman Khushboo Kumari, who was also wounded in the blast. Kumari is involved in one criminal case and the case was scheduled for hearing on Tuesday. At least three other women were also injured. One woman, who was eye witness to the incident said a woman was sitting close to her and she saw her pulling out something from her bag after which there was a big explosion.

ADG headquarters Sunil Kumar said six cops have been suspended for dereliction in duty and after the inquiry report nobody found involved in the incident would be spared.

The Patna High Court also took serious notice of the bomb blast in Chhapra court premises and summoned DGP of police PK Thakur. The court expressed its unhappiness over bomb explosions in court premises one after another and asked what the Government was doing to check it. In recent times in three court premises in Hajipur, Ara and Sasaram bombs were exploded.
