The 2G scam whistleblower Aseervatham Achary on Thursday joined BJP after leaving 24 years of Government service. Achary was welcomed to the party by BJP leaders Subramanian Swamy and JP Nadda at a function in the party headquarters.

Forty-five-year-old  Achary is CBI’s star witness in the 2G scam case against former Telecom Minister A. Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi. He was Raja’s Additional Private Secretary during the 2G scam and left Telecom Ministry in 2008 to join back his parent cadre Railway Ministry.  He was Deputy Director in Railway Ministry and left service recently to join BJP.

Addressing the media here, Swamy said because of Achary the 2G case progressed to its logical conclusion and led to the monitoring of the case by Supreme Court. He gave crucial documents and information to the CBI that led to unearthing of 2G scandal, said Swamy.

“Achary has put Nation first and Tamil Nadu second. He risked his life to expose the scam. He will join BJP’s Strategic Action Committee. We will use his services in Tamil Nadu election also,” said Swamy.

“I have been in central government service for the past 24 years. For the past five years I have been associating with those crusading against 2G scam like Subramanian Swamy. I thought I should dedicate my work to a wider level like politics and nation service. I consider BJP as a best national party which can lead country. For fighting against corruption we need a strong government and I think Narendra Modi can lead the country to a better future,” said Achary.
