Citizens of 1,149 cities of India registered as many as three lakh complaints related to garbage/sanitary issues on the Government’s Swachhata App ever since its launch in August last year. And the Urban Development Ministry claimed on Tuesday that 2.80 lakh of the three lakh complaints have been resolved.
The App has seen over seven lakh downloads so far with residents of Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Dhanbad, Jaipur, Navsari, Korba, Chas, Nadiad and Katni downloading it the most. The total number of registrations on the App till date is 7,12,657.
“The Swachhata App will help citizens draw the attention of their respective urban local bodies (UlB) to a host of deficiencies in service and get the officials concerned to act on it,” said a senior official of MoUD.
launched in August 2016 by the MoUD, the Swachhata App enables citizens to associate more and more with Swachchh Bharat Mission in urban areas. The App empowers citizens to draw the attention of UlB bosses to nine different issues.
The App is easy to use. To submit a garbage/sanitary issue, the user has to it click its picture, enter a landmark and submit it. Deadlines have also been set for the authorities concerned to act on various issues. The UlB has to attend to an issue of garbage vehicle not arriving within 12 hours, dead animals within 48 hours and garbage dumping in 12 hours.
Interestingly, the Bharat Interface For Money (BHIM) - Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship App to promote digital billing- has witnessed over 1.11 crore people downloading the App so far.
