A 26-year old woman sustained minor burn injuries after an unidentified person threw acid at her in East Delhi’s Shakarpur area on Saturday night. The victim is separated from her husband.
According to the police the incident was reported around 10 pm when the victim identified as Ranjita was at her residence. The accused rang the door bell and as soon as the woman opened the door he threw acid at her and ran from the spot. Ranjita claimed that she immediately shut the door and therefore only a few drops fell on her.
She suffered less than a percent burn injury and was discharged from the hospital after first aid treatment. A case against unknown persons has been registered under the appropriate sections of the IPC. Police are also questioning her husband and the family members.
