Aware that a rising BJP was more dangerous than a left Front on the wane, the ruling Trinamool Congress tended to turn its attention towards the safron outfit making it the target of its attacks, the Bengal BJP leadership have complained adding their workers were being attacked by the Trinamool goons at Sandeshkhali in the Basirhat parliamentary constituency of the North 24 Parganas.

About the 26 people, including 22 BJP men, were grievously hurt when armed Trinamool Congress supporters attacked them at Sandeshkhali the police said on Tuesday. The incident took place on Tuesday morning when the Trinamool workers attacked their BJP counterparts with lathis, bombs, guns and sharp weapons.

The TMC men reportedly attacked the BJP workers when they were taking out a procession to celbrate the swearing-in of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sources said.

A central delegation was also coming to Kolkata to make an on-the-spotinquiry, the BJP leader said.

“This seems to be a political clash” a senior pollice officer saidadding investigations were on to find out what led to the attack.“Four Trinamool men were also injured in the skirmish” he maintainedadding as well that a police constable also sustained bullet injuries.

The police however would not mention the whereabouts of the saidpolice man or for that matter the hospital where he was being treated.

Though Rapid Action Force had been rushed to the spot to control thesituation it could again spin out of control as the Trinamool washindering any political activity by any other politcal partyparticularly the BJP alleged.
