2G Scam: SC to hear ED officer’s issue on sep 5
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday said it will pass an order on continuance of Deputy Director of ED Rajeshwar Singh in the investigation of 2G spectrum scam only after hearing him. “We will hear him if he wants to continue or not. After hearing him we will pass the order,” a bench comprising Justices Hl Dattu, SA Bobde and A M Sapre said, while posting the matter for hearing on Thursday. The issue of Singh was raised by BJP leader Subramanium Swamy, who said that despite the apex court’s May 1 order he has not been reinstated into the investigation and it was not known “what powerful element are working” that he is out of the probe.
Grover Spl Public Prosecutor in 2g case
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday accepted the proposal to appoint senior advocate Anand Grover as Special Public Prosecutor for conducting the trial in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case. Grover would be taking the place of senior advocate UU lalit who has been elevated as a judge of the Supreme Court. A bench, headed by Justice Hl Dattu, accepted the name suggested by senior advocate and CBI counsel KK Venugopal in the matter saying he knows the bar well.
‘Missing files’ no excuse for denying info
New Delhi: Public authorities cannot take excuse of “missing files” for denying information under the RTI Act as such claims have no legality under the transparency law for withholding records, the Central Information Commission has held. “Unless proved the record was destroyed as per the prescribed rules of destruction/retention policy, it is deemed that record continues to be held by the public authority,” Information Commissioner Acharyulu said in his order.
