Over 180 Indians return from Iraq
New Delhi: More than 180 Indians returned early Monday from Basrah on a special flight of Iraqi Airways, taking the number of people who have come back from conflict-hit Iraq to over 3,500. Iraqi Airways special flight from Basrah with more than 180 Indians on board has reached here, the Spokesperson in the External Affairs Ministry said.
Minor fire broke out in ins savitri last week
New Delhi: A minor fire broke out in one of the living compartments of warship INS Savitri on Saturday last week in Visakhapatnam and was brought under control by the duty staff of the ship. It was in the naval dockyard when the accident took place most probably due to short circuit in one of the sockets of the television installed in the mess, officials said here on Monday. There were no casualties and only minor damage to fittings and personal belongings of some crew members, they said adding there was no impact on the combat worthiness of the ship.
PM TO HOlD FAREWEll DINNER FOR ARMY CHIEF
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a farewell dinner on July 26 for the outgoing Army Chief Gen Bikram Singh who is retiring at the end of the month. Defence Minister Arun Jaitley will also hold a farewell dinner for the outgoing Army Chief on Friday which will be attended by senior officials from all departments of the Ministry, Ministry officials said. In his last days in office, Gen Singh is visiting all the operational commands of the force since Sunday.
