IPS officer Choudhury is new NSG head
New Delhi: Senior IPS officer JN Choudhury has been appointed as head of National Security Guard (NSG) in place of Arvind Ranjan who will take over as the full-time chief of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The Union Home Ministry issued the orders on Thursday on the appointments to the two important central security forces. Choudhury, who has been appointed as the new DG of the premier ‘black cats’ counter-terror force, is due to retire in May, 2015. Ranjan, a 1977-batch officer of Kerala cadre with a wide experience in central paramilitary forces, took over the full charge of the 1.47-lakh strong CISF on Thursday at its headquarters here.
No surprise if TMC goes with BJP: CPM
New Delhi: With general elections approaching, CPI(M) on Thursday said it would be of “little surprise” to if Trinamool Congress joined hands with BJP and Narendra Modi to share the spoils of office. “It would be of little surprise if the projected RSS-BJP Prime Ministerial aspirant receives positive vibes from the West Bengal Chief Minister (Mamata Banerjee). The Gujarat CM as PM and West Bengal CM would, indeed, be a lethal cocktail threatening the future of Indian secular democracy,” senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said.
