Cauvery Board: SC rejects TN Govt’s plea
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected Tamil Nadu Government’s request to urgently set up Cauvery Management Board to implement the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal award. Finding no urgency, the bench headed by Justice RM lodha said, “The application can be heard along with civil appeal on award given by the tribunal.” The court also asked the Karnataka Government to file its response on setting up of the board.
Foreign Secy singh to visit Dhaka Today
New Delhi: Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh will visit Dhaka on Wednesday to meet the top leadership there in the backdrop of Government here facing stiff opposition in Parliament to introduction of Indo-Bangla land Boundary Agreement (lBA), an emotive issue for poll-bound Bangladesh. The visit also comes amid political turmoil in that country with former President and Jaitya Party chief Hussain Muhammad Ershad ruling out contesting January 5 elections.
