Chit fund: SC Notice to Centre, WB Govt
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued notice to Centre and West Bengal Government on a PIl questioning the lack of mechanism to reign in private chit funds. In the aftermath of Saradha chit fund scam in WB, the petition demanded CBI inquiry into the irregularities and sought a mechanism to govern all chit funds across the country.

EC grants 14 days time to Munde to reply
New Delhi: The Election Commission on Thursday granted 14 days of time to BJP leader Gopinath Munde to reply to its show cause notice for disqualification over his poll expense remark. Munde had sought four more weeks’ time along with reports of returning officer on expenditure incurred by him during 2009 parliamentary poll after a showcase notice was slapped on him by the poll body.
