Birender Singh again appointed CWC member
New Delhi: Birender Singh has once again been made a member of the Congress Working Committee, a day after being removed from it and being dropped as general secretary. The AICC has also brought in two new secretaries — Girish Chodankar and Rajaram Pal, taking the total number of secretaries to 44.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday took oath as member of Rajya Sabha after being re-elected from Assam. 80-year-old Singh, who is the leader of the Upper House, was recently re-elected a member of RS from Assam for the fifth consecutive term.
two ‘smugglers’ shot dead by BSF
Amritsar: BSF personnel on Monday shot dead two youth, who were allegedly heroin smugglers, in an encounter at Border Outpost Burj in Amritsar sector. IG BSF, Aditya Mishra said the youth were identified as Ajaypal Singh (31) and Harpal Singh (30), residents of Indo-Pak border village lopokey.
