200 Pak Hindu families seek Indian citizenship

Published on:

Members of nearly 200 Pakistani Hindu families, who migrated from the neighbouring country and took shelter in Rajkot since 2005, have requested Rajkot Collector to grant Indian citizenship.

Nearly 1,000 such people are residing in the commercial capital of Saurashtra region —Rajkot for almost a decade in Ganeshnagar area. According to their leaders, their Visa permits have expired and looking to the current situation they wouldn’t able to go back to their country. These people are also facing another problem as they have not permitted to move outside the boundaries of Rajkot city. As a result of it, they could not move around for their livelihood. They complain that their applications are not taken up by administration on priority basis.

Most of the families belong to Scheduled Caste and have social connections in Kutch but due to Visa issues they cannot go to Kutch to meet their relatives. Following their grievances, these Pakistani Hindus organised a rally on Monday in Rajkot and called on the District Collector of Rajkot demanding Indian citizenship and immediate actions for their travel permit across India.
