A two-storey building situated in a narrow lane in Old Delhi's Churiwalan area on Sunday collapsed, an official has said. No person has been reported injured so far, a senior official of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) said.

"The two-storeyed building was old and located in a narrow lane of Gali Kashmerian in Churiwalan area. Only one woman was residing in a single room in the building, and she is safe," he said.

"Since the street is narrow, our staff is busy manually clearing away the debris right now," the official said.

He said "as of now, reports are trickling in, and one doesn't know yet, if any passer-by was injured or not. It does not appear to be a case of illegal construction but the condition of the old building".

Earlier, four persons were killed when a four-storey building had collapsed in Inderlok area in north Delhi in June.

A three-storey building in Bara Hindu Rao area in Sadar Paharganj Zone had collapsed in October, claiming lives of a father-son duo. According to a report released by the NDMC in October, on the conditions of houses and dangerous building in north Delhi for 2013-14, a total of 28 houses were found as dangerous.
