In a rare defiance of the Government's transfer orders, two railway personnel posted at the crucial parcel godown at the New Delhi Railway Station have expressed their reluctance to join their new postings at Old Delhi Railway Station.
The duo has been in the present posting for over 15 years leading to a section of the departmental staff approaching the Railway Ministry complaining against the erring personnel, who have the backing of the railway unions.
The Delhi Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office had issued transfer orders to Parcel Supervisor Rajesh Chaddha and Senior Commercial Clerk PN Singh along with five others on June 21, 2017. Barring Chaddha and Singh who have declined to take up their new assignments, all others have joined their postings.
According to the rules, there has to be a mandatory periodical transfer of government officials and staff in five years but Chaddha and Singh have been at the New Delhi Parcel godown for about two decades.
"They come under the sensitive commercial department. Both of them have been there for over several years which is not fair. This needs to be investigated properly as every time transfer orders were issued to them they used their railway employees' union clout to put them on hold. Most of us have now brought this o the notice of the Delhi Division Commercial Department but still no action is being taken against them. There is a huge unrest among the employees," said a senior member of the Commercial Department.
When a senior railway ministry official was asked about the matter, he said that this particular case will be examined and the DRM will be asked for his comments. "This is surprising. It is now almost two months and they have defied the transfer orders. This is a serious lapse on the part of our Delhi Division administration, especially, against the backdrop of Railway Minister's zero tolerance to such issues of irregularities which includes corruption," said the Ministry official.
