The Crime Investigation Department on Wednesday arrested two more persons for suspected ISIS links. The two — Saddam Hussein and Abbasuddin — were arrested from luvpur in Birbhum district.

They were part of the larger ISIS module created by Mosiuddin alias Musa alias Majnu a native of luvpur but currently a resident of Tirupur in Tamil Nadu. Mosiuddin was formally arrested on Tuesday hours after he was detained while on board Bolpur-bound Vishwabharati fast passenger.

Musa, who was carrying Syrian and Afghan currency, an improvised gun, a dagger and an android phone, was arrested while he was returning from Tamil Nadu.

The arrests came in the wake of the ghastly terror attack in an up market Dhaka restaurant where 28 people including six terrorists and two police officers were killed. Being a border State Bengal has been put under high alert in the aftermath of the Dhaka attacks.

The cops on Wednesday arrested Saddam and Abbasuddin after interrogating Musa, Dilip Adak, DIG, CID (Operations) said. Some relatives and wife of Musa were also being questioned by the police in Tamil Nadu, sources said adding six sim cards, two laptops and two voters’ ID card were recovered from them.

Musa and his accomplices were in constant touch with some Jamat ul Mujahideen Bangladesh terrorists as their call and e-mail records would suggest. The arrests assume importance against the backdrop of Khagragarh blasts in Burdwan when two JMB terrorists were killed while making bombs.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the Bangla outfit had set up an elaborate terror network for creating modules and exporting them to the neighbouring country in order to carry out subversive activities there.

Meanwhile, the Howrah district court on Wednesday granted full-term (14-days) police custody for Musa who was earlier booked under Arms Act. The police on Wednesday also brought two additional charges under Sections 121 and 121-A (Sedition) of the Indian Penal Code against him.

In March this year the National Investigation Agency had arrested Ashik Ahmed alias Raja from Dhaniakhali in Hooghly district for his alleged connections with the IS.
