Unidentified assailants on Wednesday shot dead two persons, including a local don, and grievously injured three others inside a Trinamool Congress party office at Kharagpur.
The attack took place in broad day light in which Srinu Naidu, the husband of a local Trinamool Congress councilor, was shot dead along with his crony Verma. They were declared "brought dead on arrival," at SSKM Hospital.
"Five assailants barged in and hurled bombs and fired indiscriminately when party men were sitting inside" a senior police officer said.
Soon after the attack TMC MP and party all-India general secretary Subroto Bakshi said in a circuitous reference to State BJP president Dilip Ghosh saying "the person who has won from this city is creating all kinds of law and order problems."
