The Indian Army on Tuesday once again exposed the Pakistan Army’s connivance in abetting infiltration inside the Indian territory after it successfully captured a 19-year-old Lashkar-e- Taiba terrorist, trained by the Pakistan Army personnel inside one of the terror factories across the Line of Control.

The young terrorist who hailed from district Okara in Punjab (Pakistan) during preliminary investigation revealed how the Pakistan Army regulars are imparting training to a fresh crop of terrorists in the terror factories and army personnel deployed in the forward posts desperately trying to push a large group of infiltrators inside the Indian territory.

According to a senior Army officer, who supervised the entire operation on ground zero in Baramulla on Tuesday told reporters, "a 19-year-old Pakistani terrorist Ali Babar Patra, son of Late Mohd Lateef R/O Dipalpur, District Okara Punjab (Pakistan) had decided to surrender before the Indian Army after one of his close associates was eliminated by the Indian patrol party while foiling a major infiltration bid in the Uri sector on September 26".

The Army officer said in the last week, a total of seven terrorists have been neutralised and one terrorist apprehended, including five along the LC.

During interrogation the young terrorist also revealed that the route taken by the terrorists to infiltrate was from Sawai Nala Terrorist Camp to Hallan Shumali Launch pad to Jabri, leading into Salamabad Nala. In 2016,  the terrorists  who had carried out a suicide attack on Uri Garrison had used the the same route via Salamabad Nala before sneaking inside the Indian territory.

Sharing details of the operation a senior army officer in Baramulla told reporters, "during the infiltration attempt on September 18-19, while two terrorists were crossing the LoC, own patrolling party established contact with them. Taking advantage of the thick undergrowth, four terrorists ran back towards the POK side of LC while remaining two terrorists managed to sneak in".

The Army officer said, "Additional forces were inducted and multiple patrols were launched in the suspected areas and the getaway routes were blocked. On the night of 25 Sep 2021, contact was again established by one such patrol with the terrorists approximately 800 meters inside the LC. Eventually by afternoon of 26 Sep 2021, one Pakistani terrorist Atiq ur Rehman @ Qari Anas, belonging to Distt Attock in Punjab (Pakistan) aged 33 years was eliminated. The second Pakistani terrorist, named Ali Babar Patra, son of Late Mohd Lateef r/o Dipalpur, Distt - Okara Punjab (Pakistan), appealed to surrender and was captured alive without causing any harm to him.

In a written statement a Srinagar based Defence Spokesman Col Emron Musavi claimed, "the  Pakistani terrorist was misguided and lured into joining LeT due to poverty, having lost his father early. To escape poverty, the individual left schooling from Govt School after class seven.  He underwent three weeks  of preliminary training at the Garhi Habibullah Camp (KPK) in 2019 followed by refresher training in 2021.  Most of the instructors being employed for physical and weapons training were Pakistan Army personnel".

As per the surrendered terrorist, Atiq ur Rehman @ Qari Anas  r/o  Vill - Pindi, Distt- Attock, Punjab (Pakistan) had given him `20,000/- for his mother’s treatment and had promised to give him additional `30,000/- on safe return from Pattan near Baramulla, where the group was to deliver the war like stores. However, it is evident that it had more nefarious designs which even the surrendered terrorist is unaware of.

Defence Spokesman said, "Pakistan Army’s connivance in abetting infiltration continues, as it is difficult to attempt crossing the Line of Control without active support of local Pakistan military commanders. As per the surrendered Pakistan national, the group of six terrorists crossed the LC fence in the shadow of forward Pakistani post Jabri".

According to a Defence Spokesman, other infiltrators have been identified as Atiq-ur-Rehman @ Qari Anas, age - 33, Village - Pindikep,Dist - Attock,Punjab (Pakistan), Tayyab, age - 24 Samundri City, Dist - Faisalabad Punjab (Pakistan), Abu Bakkar Salfi, age - 22
