At least 13 people were injured 7 of them, grievously when a naptha pipe line exploded during repair at the Haldia Petrochemcials Petrochemical’s naphtha cracker unit.
While ten fire tenders were pressed into service to bring the fire under control Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who was presently in Delhi took personal care to direct the State administration to quickly shifted the injured to Kolkata, 100 miles away.
Being largest of its kind in the country the factory is a joint venture between Government of West Bengal, Chatterjee Group, the TATAs and the Indian Oil Corporation, etc. who have an investment of Rs 5,864 crore.
