Eleven girls, including three minors were rescued by the Central district police from brothel in the Kamla Market area on Thursday night. Police said that following a tip-off that minor girls were being forced into prostitution in the brothel on GB Road, a raid was conducted and the police were accompanied by workers from an NGO.

The raid lasted about four hours. Officials said the rescued girls were produced before a city court and later sent to Nari Niketan for age determination test. The 32-year-old brothel manager Sarika, who forced them in prostitution, was arrested from the spot and investigators are looking for the person, who trafficked the victim. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central district), Alok Kumar said an information was received on February 7 at Kamla Market police station that there was one minor girl in the IIIrd floor of brothel number -64 at GB Road who has been forced into prostitution.

“Acting on a tip-off, a raid was immediately conducted under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kamla Market sub-division) Shweta Chauhan at brothel number- 64, and eleven girls, including some minor were rescued,” Kumar said.  Kumar also said that out of these girls, two girls belong to Nepal, five girls from Karnataka, three girls from Andhra Pradesh and one from Maharashtra.

“Most such victims were brought here from impoverished villages by pimps, on the assurance that they would be given employment. They were subsequently brought to Delhi and sold to the manager of brothel who later forced them in prostitution. They were not allowed to go outside and were restrained at that brothel itself,” he added.
