In a shocking development, at least 10 Covid-19 have died at Vasai, a satellite town of Mumbai, following shortage of medical oxygen, during the last two days.
While seven patients have died in the Vinayaka Hospital and Riddhi Vinayak Hospital, both at Nalasopara in Vasai taluka of Palghar district, three more patients died in other hospitals.
However, the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC) – which manage these two hospitals –have denied that the deaths were due to shortage of oxygen cylinders.
The twin towns of Vasai and Virar, which are located along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway, have been facing acute medical oxygen shortage for the past four days.
There are in all 7000 active patients in the two towns. Of the active patients, anywhere from 2500 to 3,000 need medical oxygen.
