1-day survey in T to update citizen database

Published on:

Telangana is all set for its first comprehensive household survey in a single day — August 19 — to develop a unique database of all the citizens of the State.

To make it a complete survey of socio-economic conditions and caste-wise data, the State Government has declared an official holiday and has asked all the heads of families to remain at home and be available to the visiting officials.

The Opposition parties including the TDP and the BJP have objected to a single day survey and a BJP leader has even called Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao worse than Hitler on this issue. The survey is believed to be aimed at plugging the loopholes in implementation of welfare schemes.
