Classical vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty remembering his old association with the departed soul too demanded setting up of a dedicated Lata Mangeshkar research institute: “Even it means spending of some crores of rupees.”
Another legendary Bengali singer Hoimanti Shukla said “Lata didi was my most favourite singer and we were all inspired by her … She was Goddess Saraswati to us … her death is a loss for us…” Singer Kumar Shanu said, “Deeply saddened to hear that Lata Didi passed away! No words. She was Maa Sarasvati for me and all the singers. She was a blessing for the music industry.”
