Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday launched a website “Maa Bharati Ke Sapoot” (MBKS)to enable the public to contribute for the Armed Forces Battle Casualties Welfare Fund (AFBCWF).

Amitabh Bachchan, who is the Goodwill Ambassador, expressed his gratitude towards the families of our fallen heroes and exhorted citizens to come forward and contribute to the fund.

Rajnath launched the website during a function organized here at the National War Memorial Complex.  “This program is dedicated to our heroes. Our country is safe because of their sacrifice. Whether it is to win wars or fight for India's integrity or counter terrorist activities from across the border, our armed forces have responded to challenges with great enthusiasm. “We cannot repay what soldiers have done; it is our moral and national duty to help families of martyrs, injured bravehearts. In the journey of India's growth, people should not think of them as free riders, but responsible riders,” Singh said.

Chief of Defence Staff(CDS), three Services chiefs, Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore (retired), Honorary Captain Yoginder Singh Yadav, Param Vir Chakra (Retired), Honorary Captain Sanjay Kumar, Param Vir Chakra and Olympic Gold medal winner Subedar Neeraj Chopra were among the participants at the function.

The AFBCWF is a tri-service fund utilised for grant of immediate financial assistance of ex-gratia to the families of our soldiers who lay down their lives or get grievously injured in active military operations. PNS

While the government has initiated a large number of welfare schemes for the soldiers killed or disabled during active combat military operations, there has been a strong public sentiment and requests from patriotic citizens, corporate heads, banks and industry captains, to contribute to the cause of welfare of the soldiers and their families.       This web page was launched to facilitate patriotic Indians to partner in this noble cause.
