Mumbai: Playback singer Kanika Kapoor on Wednesday announced her separation from her husband, businessman Gautam Hathiramani, bringing their four-year marriage to an end.

The singer, known for songs such as Baby Doll, Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan and Jugni Ji, shared the news in a statement on her Instagram Stories. She said that after much thought and consideration, she and her husband were “going our separate ways”. She said she was grateful for the time they had shared and wished him well for the future. She also asked friends, family and followers for kindness and respect for the couple’s privacy as they move forward.

Kapoor has not disclosed any details about the circumstances of the separation, and there has been no statement from Hathiramani so far.

The two married on May 20, 2022, in an intimate ceremony in London, attended by close friends and family. They had reportedly been friends for several years before the relationship developed into a marriage. It was Kapoor’s second marriage. She had earlier been married to London-based doctor Raj Chandok, and the couple separated in 2012.
