Dehradun-based student activist group, Making a Difference by Being the Difference (MAD) convened a massive clean up drive and awareness programme at Deepnagar area of Dehradun on Sunday.
This drive was carried out as a part of MAD's campaign to attract both public attention and Government action for the cause of rejuvenating Rispana river.
Over a hundred and fifty volunteers including NCC cadets, students from various colleges and members of voluntary bodies among others participated in the cleaning up drive.
Volunteers entered the riverbed to embark upon the drive and continue it for three hours. It was noted that drains from surrounding areas continue to pollute the river despite MAD's extensive reports to the civic authorities and State Government on these challenges.
MAD plans to continue these activities and it's engagement with authorities to ensure continued action on Rispana's rejuvenation.
