Youth have mixed opinion about second term for PM

The youth of Dehradun that make a good number of voters in the upcoming elections have a mixed opinion on a second term for Prime Minister Narendra Mod. The Pioneer talked to some of the youth of the city and found that Modi does influence the youth with many of them supporting him. However, there are some who are not closed to the idea of a new face.

Talking about it Rachit Nautiyal said, “I will vote for Modi government as BJP seems to be helpful rather than helpless as seen in the case of the opposition parties.  A firm decision making government is what our country needs today. In my view performance of each of the department has significantly improved under leadership of Modi. He should be given five more years so that the country can see a better change.”

Ritu Thapliyal a student said, “Modi definitely did good work. In my opinion he did work hard to end the corruption as promised. He started schemes like Ujjwala Yojana and Ayushman Bharat which has definitely helped the people- especially middle class families. So far no government had started these many useful schemes.”

Another student, Lovy Singh said, “I support Modi because he actually brought development to our country. He did whatever he said in his manifesto back in 2014. Be it development or strengthening and fighting back for our country what he did in surgical strike or avenging terror attacks.”

Another youth, Shubham Goswami also expressed support for Modi opining that he was firm in taking decisions.

However, not everyone is impressed by Modi. Arushi Bisht said, “I am not in favour of Modi though he did bring about some changes. However I think that it is time that a new face should be elected. People should be given chance so it is time to give chance to another politician to come in power.”

Vipul Negi said, “I know that people appreciate many things in Modi however the mushrooming of IT cell favoring his government and circulating fake news has created a mess especially on the social media platforms. This has affected and manipulated the minds of the people. I think this is the reason a different leader is needed.”

Another student Ayush Naithani said, “I think the number of government jobs has decreased under the BJP government as compared to the Congress government. I think that the power should be given to a new face now so that the number of government jobs can increase again.”

Another youth, Nikita Manik opined, “I think the promised made by Modi for better employment of the youth was not executed up to the mark.  The graph has been the same. I think not just promises but more ground work is needed.”
