In a major move, the PT exercise in BSF fitness regime lasting for 45 minutes is all set to be replaced with Yoga practice which would not just facilitate physical fitness but would relieve stress of the Jawans, working in the border areas, defending the country. It would be mandatory to practise Yoga in the BSF by the Jawans and the officials alike. Again, Baba Ramdev would establish Acharyakulum educational institutions on the pattern of central schools for families of the jawans all over the country. This was announced on the valedictory function of 10- day long yoga camp which concluded in Patanjali Yog Peeth on Monday as part of silver jubilee celebrations of BSF on its 50th anniversary.
Addressing a joint press conference on Monday, attended by yoga guru Baba Ramdev, director general of BSF KK Sharma said, “It gives me immense pleasure to see that the Jawans and officials of BSF have done yoga training course directly under the tutelage of yoga guru Baba Ramdev. For me, it a first time opportunity to address my 2000 men selected from different wings and training centres from all over the country at one place.”
Now, the fitness regimen of the BSF would include yoga postures and mudras. “The whole world today is taking to yoga for overall health at physical, mental and psychic levels. So we thought of giving training to our men of the ancient science, given shape over millennia by our seers and sages. Who can be a better instructor than Baba RamdevIJ” Sharma asked.
Addressing his pupils, Swami Ramdev said, “The Jawans of BSF have become Yogis simultaneously apart from being Yodhas (warriors). Their working capacity has increased many folds after they attended the 10 days’ yoga camp. They themselves have admitted so. My association with BSF has been for the past nine years in the form of training the Jawans at various places. It has become history as the DG announced the mandatory practice in BSF all over the country.” Ramdev also contributed Rs22 lakh to the welfare fund of BSF to reciprocate the contribution worth Rs11 lakh made by the BSF.
Speaking to The Pioneer, a BSF Jawan DN Bhatt said, “It was a life time thing to be near the yoga guru during these days. Yoga relieves stress and helps us keep fit mentally and physically.”
Earlier, the Jawans presented a drama, showcasing how they combat the terrorists in the border areas of the country. It was lauded by everyone.
