The Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary, Sitaram Yechury, has accused the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre of failing to fulfil the promises the BJP leaders had made to the people during the parliamentary election campaign. Addressing a CPI(M) party convention held in Dehradun on Sunday, Yechury blamed the Central Government for communal tensions and consistent price rise.

Addressing the gathering at the Parade Ground in Dehradun, the CPI (M) general secretary said that the claims made by the BJP have turned out to be hollow. He said incidents of communal tensions was being reported from different parts of the country with the NDA Government failing to effectively handle such situations. Yechury also blamed the Central Government for the rising woes being faced by the people due to consistent rise in prices of essential commodities.

Talking about Uttarakhand, Yechury lambasted the Congress-led State Government stating that the people of Uttarakhand are in dire straits. He said that at a time when 2,300 government schools have been closed in Uttarakhand either due to low student numbers or lack of teachers, the government is remaining a mute spectator instead of taking necessary action.

In his address on the occasion, the CPI (M) State in charge Tapan Sen also lambasted the Central and State Governments questioning the policies being implemented by the governments at the centre and State levels.
