X-ray machine out of order at Munsyari

The x-ray machine at the community health centre in Munsyari has been out of working order for about a month and a half since it was broken by mischievous elements. The locals complain that due to this, they are forced to travel more than 100 kilometres to Pithoragarh to get an x-ray done. The local BJP leaders have raised this issue with the Pithoragarh district magistrate and chief medical officer, demanding a high level inquiry into the case. They have also warned that they will undertake an agitation if the x-ray machine is not repaired without delay.

According to the BJP district spokesman Jagat Martoliya, about a month and a half ago, some anti-social elements had barged into the Munsyari CHC being managed on Public Private Partnership mode. They had damaged the x-ray machine here. When the issue reached the police, a public representative of the development block had assured that he would facilitate the repair of the machine but this has not been done yet.

Martoliya has submitted a complaint letter addressed to the district magistrate and the chief medical officer of the district on this issue. He has stated that due to the x-ray machine being out of order at the CHC in Munsyari, the patients from this border area are being forced to travel about 140 kilometres to Pithoragarh to get an x-ray done at the district hospital there. He has also demanded action against those supporting the elements guilty of spreading anarchy at the CHC. The public representative of the block was meant to facilitate funds for repair of the machine but he has not done this so far.

The BJP district spokesman said, “The residents of this border area are dissatisfied with the condition of the community health centre. If the district administration and Medical Health department fail to get the x-ray machine repaired within a week, the people of the border area will also be involved in an agitation against the authorities. If the Congress led State Government continues to remain apathetic, we will raise this issue in the public domain and also expose the public representatives who are abetting anti-social elements,” stressed Martoliya.
