Kotwali circle officer Manoj Katyal held a note of caution, saying that the cops should not be carried away by the bravado of the policemen as shown in the movies. The world of fiction and the real world should not be clubbed together, he said, adding that ground level work should be kept separate from the fictional boisterousness while addressing the policemen on the occasion.
“It has been observed that some policemen are carried away by blockbusters like Dabang and Ganga Jal. In such movies, policemen are presented as dabangs, free to do anything their instincts prod them to do even if their actions involve trampling the policing rules. They do not care a fig for human rights and other policing rules. Their only obsession is to fight for the truth and justice. Policemen should be wary lest they be influenced by the heroes flaunting ostentatious show of courage. The ground reality is no fiction and policemen must land in trouble if they emulate the silver screen heroes in real life,” he cautioned.
