Foussing on important women related issues, a day long workshop was conducted by Vigyan Bharti in collaboration with Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) on Sunday. On the occasion the women’s wing of Vigyan Bharti, Shakti Bharat launched Women Shakti unit for Uttarakhand which aims at empowering women in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, the president of Shakti Bharat, Sudha Tiwari said, “Our initiative works to uplift women through the medium of science. We have created several programmes to spread awareness about the education of girls especially living in the villages. We also focus on connecting them with various other curricular activities that can empower them economically.”
She further said, “We also focus on women’s health, education and safety. Our team is working in 17 different States to raise entrepreneurs and employment at different levels. The other important aspects are giving information about different ways so they can share our Indian culture with the younger generation.”
When asked about the Uttarakhand Shakti Unit and what it aims to do Tiwari said, “We are planning to develop some programme that includes science for empowering the women. Our focus will be on aspects from home remedies to health issues. We also know that the condition of women who are educated and living in cities is better than those of women living in the villages.
The second task is to empower them and educate them about the importance of education. We will also work for skill development in village areas so that the women can be made economically strong.”
Shakti Unit, Uttarakhand secretary Ekta Tripathi said, “As we all know there is a lot of potential in women, along with so many resources. Our aim is to create a bridge between women in urban areas and market, so they can achieve economic backbone for further work.”
Vigyan Bharti president Dr Mahesh Bhatt said, “The one day workshop was divided into two parts health and safety.
As we all know, women’s safety is such a burning issue in modern times. It is important that we raise awareness among women about the different aspects like the incidents which can take place in daily life, at home, college or workplaces.
Information among women is the key to enable society to avoid most of such unwanted incidents.”
Anuradha Singh, Suman Mandrwal, Girish Semwal, Deependra Tripathi and Rajni Sinha among others were also among those present on the occasion.
