If all goes well, the construction of flyovers in the State capital would start from December 20 this year.
The work on these projects has been delayed by about four months. Earlier the work was slated to be started in September this year. Dehradun
District Magistrate, BVRC, Purushottam informed that the work would commence from December 20.
As per the plan flyovers are to be constructed at ISBT crossing, Ballupur Chowk, Jogiwala along with a railway overbridge at Bhandaribagh.
The foundation stones of three flyovers and a railway over bridge project were laid by the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna earlier in March this year. But construction work on none of these project has been started on the ground yet.
Due to the lackadaisical attitude of the State Government the construction work of these flyovers has been delayed and is now slated to start later this month.
Earlier the project was planned to be completed by March 2015 but due to the consistent delay the deadline would also be extended.
Earlier, reviewing the progress of the project on November 11, State Chief Secretary, Subhash Kumar had directed the executing agencies and department concerned to ensure start of the work in 10 days and to submit a daily progress report on the same.
Meanwhile, Purushottam claimed that hopefully the project would kick start and the daily progress report would be submitted once the work gets underway.
He added that certain modifications have also been done in the construction plan. Earlier the flyovers were to be four-laned but now, considering the convenience of the locals, these would be double lane.
The construction of these flyovers and railway overbridge is expected to redress the traffic congestion experienced at various places in the State capital.
