Taking serious note of the demolition of a gate erected by GTM Builders in broad daylight on Saturday by members of the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD), Chief Minister Harish Rawat warned on Sunday that his Government would not allow the UKD to act like Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in Uttarakhand.
The incident highlighted how State’s law and order situation has been deteriorating day-by-day as the incident took place near the Dehradun SSP’s office with the police acting as mere spectator as if they were passively supporting the act. It would be pertinent to mention here that on Saturday protesting UKD members broke through the gate of GTM Builders, a property dealing company, located nearer SSP office in Dehradun while SSP Pushpak Jyoti was addressing mediapersons at his office.
Police rushed to the spot and controlled the UKD members amicably. GTM official Aarti Vashishth had registered a report in Kotwali police station and a case under Sections 147, 323, 504, 506 and 427 of IPC was registered against Bahadur Singh, Dhirendra Bisht, Jai Prakash and few other members of UKD, said Kotwali police station in-charge Inspector SS Bisht. Teams are investigating the matter, he added.
Reacting to it, the Chief Minister, who has been working hard to attract investors by promising that the State Government would provide all facilities to the investors through a single window system, has categorically said that he would not allow Uttarakhand to become Maharashtra. It has raised question mark over the police, who are bound to provide security to all as part of maintaining law and order.
